About Upakara

Upakara — a word from our ancient tongue — means a selfless act of service, a giving that flows not from obligation but from the heart.Upakara — a formally registered charitable trust, built on transparency, driven by compassion, and grounded in the timeless values of our culture. In the years since, Upakara Trust has grown — not just in its reach, but in the depth of its relationships with those it serves. Every archaka supported, every temple restored, every student whose education continues, every family whose wedding is celebrated with dignity, every gomata that finds shelter in our gaushala — each of these is a story of what happens when devoted people choose seva over silence.
Today, as we continue this journey, we are deeply grateful — to every donor who trusted us with their giving, to every volunteer who gave their time and heart, and to every well-wisher who believed in this dream before it had a name.
You are not just supporters of Upakara Trust. You are co-authors of every story we have been privileged to be part of. This is our story. And with your grace, it is only just beginning.

Our Vision
At Upakara Trust, we work towards a world that is not distant or abstract — but one we can build, neighbourhood by neighbourhood, family by family, temple by temple. We envision communities where temple priests are respected and financially secure, where crumbling shrines are restored to their former glory, where no family is denied the dignity of a proper wedding, where every child — regardless of background — has access to education, and where our sacred gomatas are sheltered, fed, and loved. This is not a distant dream. This is the work we show up for — every single day. .

Our Mission
Upakara exists to serve — with accountability, with compassion, and with deep reverence for the traditions that bind our communities together. We stand beside the archaka — the devoted temple priest — offering financial support, welfare assistance, and the recognition he rightfully deserves for his lifelong service to the divine. We take up the sacred responsibility of renovating and rebuilding temples that are worn by time, ensuring that these centres of faith continue to serve generations to come. We walk alongside families who carry the joy and the burden of a wedding — stepping in with assistance so that this sacred milestone is celebrated with the dignity every family deserves. We invest in the future of our community by supporting underprivileged children and youth with scholarships, educational materials, and opportunities that would otherwise remain out of reach. And we care for our gomatas — our indigenous country cows — sheltering them in our gaushala, tending to their health, and honouring the sacred place they hold in our culture and our hearts. In everything we do, we are guided by one simple truth — that an act of giving, however small, is an act of grace. .
